I’ve uploaded some new photos today. Check out formal pics in the Photos section.

Baseless Assumptions

What is it with people that call to see if they can change an appointment time or call to check if you still want something and then make up their own assumptions out of thin air?  For instance, for formal, I had ordered a simple corsage at the Loblaws Florist shop (i know, i know..it was the only thing that was open!) anyways, for some reason, they wanted to call me in the morning to make sure I still wanted it (why, i have no idea) and I waited and waited, and there was no call. Around 11:30, I called them to ask if they were able to put it together, and the lady told me that she called, but my voicemail was full, and as a result assumed I went somewhere else to get it. What sort of twisted logic would lead someone to that conclusion?! The last time I had spoken with her, I told her I wanted the flowers…with no indication otherwise, why would someone make baseless assumptions? Would "I didn’t get in touch with you, so I asumed you wanted to buy this bouquet of daisies instead" be something that a rational person would do? I would hope not.. In any case, with 2 hours to spare before the formal, we called a real florist shop, and she threw them together in 25 minutes.

This morning, Trina had a dentist appointment for 12:30. Apparently the secretary had called and left a message asking if it was OK to move her appointment to 12:00.  12:00 wasn’t OK, and Trina didn’t have anytime to respond to the woman, but when she arrived, she woman argued that her appointment was at 12:00 and she had missed it, as she had assumed that without a reply that changing the appointment time was ok.  Where do these people get off assuming that they can just move things around and cancel orders without any confirmation?  I didn’t ask you to change an appointment time, you didn’t OK it with me…so its probably safe to say you shouldn’t change it.  Sometimes I think people just need to think through exactly what they’re doing before they do it.. /rant.

Understanding the MSN 7 Spaces update notification

With the recent release of MSN 7 and its links to Spaces updates, I was curious as to whether or not anyone has figured out exactly how they signal to MSN when someone’s blog is updated, and what URL to link them to. I was wondering if it would be possible for us to try and do the same for Wordpress Blogs? I’ve started looking for clues, but haven’t found anything yet. Anyone else doing this, have any tips or want to give me a hand?  I will post updates to my progress here as it develops.  Please add your comments if you come across anything.

Finally, a DioNICEis

Fruity Tubes - fruit coloured O's - a healthy breakfast alternativeToday is Trent’s Annual Last Day of Classes Music and Beer Festival. While the weather report said that it would be 10 degrees and sunny - I wasn’t sure if I could believe it. But it is. The last 3 years have been plagued with rain and bad weather. I’m volunteering again this year, and it looks as though I will be checking IDs from 1-4.  Word is they’ve ordered 8 kegs this year - quite the number to try and drink, given that last year I think it was something like 2.5 kegs that were drank - mind you it was cold and rainy last year. More comments and pictures to follow.Update: the weather was incredible. They ran out of beer twice a in the end we went through 14 kegs. Thanks Labbatt, and thanks Ma Nature for finally throwing a successful Dionysis my way.
