Zim PPLive Another Bandwagon Scramble for Cowpland

I wasn’t really surprised to note that earlier this week Michael Cowpland’s company ZIM announced they would be partnering with the Chinese company PPLive. With earnings down, and ZIMs SMS sales on the decline (a visit to their bulk SMS site mentioned that “We regret to inform you that www.zimsms.com is no longer available.
All unused credits must be used by September 30, 2006. Kindly
note that if you fail to use your credits, no refund will be issued.” It seems like another bandwagon they could try and scramble onto, much like his forray into Linux with Corel Linux when Linux was the talk of the town, an Office Suite - Corel Office, purchased from Novell, and his later jump to ZIM with SMS.

MooTools Released

The makers of my favourite javascript library moo.ajax, and moo.fx have released their own modular library that brings moo.fx and moo.ajax together called Mootools. It takes the good bits from Prototype, JQuery and moo and packs into a tiny package. What’s really cool is their dynamic downloader that will generate a custom build and even compress it for you. Documentation and demos are slim at this point, so it looks like I’ll be diving in to take a look.

Adium Dock Icons - Ottawa Senators-Style

In response to a recent SensNation request that there were no Sens Adium dock icons, I whipped this up this morning. I’ve tried to register for an account at Adium Xtras, but my registration confirmation still hasn’t arrived. If it’s not here by morning, I’ll have to track it down. In the meantime, you can download them here.

The T-Shirt Roadtrip

We ordered some t-shirts for SensNation.com to use in promotions and to sell rather than rely on donations, and surprisingly, the cheapest and best quality place I could find was still Reaction Sportswear, where I’ve had shirts made for the last 4 years while at Trent. Every screen printer in Ottawa came in with quotes at least several dollars over that of Reaction. The problem being that of picking up the shirts. I have friends regularly travelling between Peterborough and Ottawa, and several offered to pick them up for us, so when they were going to bus it to Ottawa last week, they offered to bring the shirts along, but couldn’t get them before Reaction closed. This meant having someone else pick them up and drop them off at the bus station. All fine and dandy, until there was no bus running, they had misread the schedule.

Introducing QuikCappr

There have been many a time when I’ve wished to send a quick screen capture to a friend or client via MSN, but the process never seems that quick. First you have to capture the screenshot (PrintScrn or otherwise) , paste it into a new image, save it, and send the file over Messenger or your IM client of choice. Realistically, this process should be at most two steps, and that is what I’ve done with QuikCappr.

Quick Cappr runs in your system tray, and when you double click it, it will take a screenshot, and copy it onto your clipboard for quick pasting into Messenger.
